The Special Competitive Studies Project (SCSP) released today the “National Action Plan for U.S. Leadership in Next-Generation Energy.” SCSP is developing a series of national action plans to establish U.S. leadership in key technology areas. This action plan addresses the next generation of clean energy technologies that will shape individual lives and great power geopolitical tensions.
This action plan combines bold technology “moonshots” with organizational changes and policies that would position the United States for durable advantage. Rather than address every aspect of the vast energy sector, the action plan focuses on solving for U.S. advantage from a national security perspective.
“Rapid innovations in a range of energy technologies are reshaping how we generate, store, and move energy around the world. Emerging breakthroughs will contribute to a world of energy abundance with tremendous positive impacts on society,” said Ben Bain, SCSP director for Future Technology Platforms.
“The imperative for the United States and its allies to lead in global energy is crucial for national security. Energy has long played a central role in geopolitics and remains a pivotal battleground. The People’s Republic of China (PRC) holds significant advantages in key areas of the evolving clean energy sector and the United States must continue taking ambitious actions to create advantages.” said David Lin SCSP Senior director for Future Technology Platforms.
